Inspired by the Peppa Pig episode where they visit a supermarket and talk about fruit (season 4, episode 45), the kids and I decided to try and replicate the so called "dinosaur juice" that George loved.
The kids were pretty excited to do this project, and with the help of Freddie Fox, who has a keen sense of smell, we listed down the required ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 4 strawberries
- 5 cherries
- 1 peach
- half a pineapple
- a slice of melon
- and 1 carrot
We went to the supermarket and bought all the needed ingredients, except for strawberries, which we decided to replace with a mango, to give it a Filipino twist. After waiting for an afternoon for the banana to turn from green to yellow, we decided to start our project after dinner.
After preparing all the ingredients, we put all the fruit into a blender and blended away. After a few minutes of covering their ears while asking me if the juice was done, we finally had our dinosaur juice. One thing they immediately noticed was that the juice did not turn green like in the cartoon. They first sip yielded mixed reactions from the kids but eventually they both agreed that it was yummy.
I definitely had fun doing this with the kids and as an added bonus got them to consume some yummy fruits and a carrot. Will definitely be doing this again.
