And because today is officially the last day of summer for my little boy, this video seems appropriate for the occasion. They have been plugging this special Phineas and Ferb episode on Disney Channel for a few days now and it has been announced that the show is officially ending.
I have to admit that the news took me by surprise and I am affected by it. I genuinely enjoy watching this show. I think that the writing is fantastic with themes that both kids and adults can enjoy. Each show more or less runs along the same pattern:
- Phineas and Ferb think of something to do today with Phineas normally exclaiming: "Ferb, I know what we're going to do today!"
- Perry is suddenly missing: "Where's Perry?"
- Candace tries her best to bust her adventurous brothers.
- Something out of this world happens at the last second to prevent her brothers from being busted.
The song writing is superb. I have the CD in the car cunning on perpetual loop because my son loves it. I now know the words just as well as he does.
My wife and I try our best to stimulate our kids imagination by limiting the amount of time they watch television. This is one show though that I don't mind that they watch because the show teaches kids how to use their imagination and how to beat boredom. Through the many creative adventures of Phineas and Ferb, my kids know about Atlantis, Egyptian Mummy's and building rocket ships to save the world!
When the last day of summer for Phineas and Ferb comes around this June, I will sit down and watch with my kids. We will enjoy the moment and then after the show I will be confident in knowing that they will then go on to create our own adventures!
